New “Sponsor a Child” program

trust2We have launched a new sponsoring program with Ngodup Choeling School of Pangan Gonpa in Kullu-Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India, after the teachers and staff requested us to find sponsors for their students. Ngodup Choeling is a monastic school where the children learn Buddhist philosophy and other subjects. The school’s main goal is to help the children and the society in the future. The children come from poor families, and as a monastic school, the school will provide food, clothing, education and residence. The age of the students varies from 5 years to teenagers. The school building was finished in spring 2017 and the construction works had received financial support from notable Buddhist sources such as His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The inauguration of the school was held on June 4th and the school classes started at the beginning of August. Although the building is finished, Ngodup Choeling School is looking for sponsors that will enable the children’s studies and continuation of the study program by covering general expenses. In total, there will be more than 30 students studying at the schooling program.

If you would like to receive more information or consider the possibility to sponsor a child please contact us. We will also update more news shortly.

Fundraising

trustDanakosha Trust has sent a clothing donation to a lay school in Dzachukha, Tibet, that has been our aid recipient since a few years. The tribes of Dzachukha are nomadic herders. Environmental conditions are hard but nomads are self-sustaining and have been able to preserve their cultural continuity. Lately the modern influences have made way to this region and are threatening the traditional way of life.

trust1Since the nomads are living in different locations according to the seasonal changes, most of them do not read, and speak only their native dialect. The educational opportunities are limited and thereby we are very pleased to be able to help the girls and boys studying in this lay school. Danakosha Trust sponsored the annual clothing for the children. These photos were taken on the day the children received the clothes and both teachers and children were very happy about the donation.

Rebuilding in Nepal

https://www.maailmankuvalehti.fi/2015/9/pitkat/ystavat-jalleenrakentajat

When a devastating earthquake hit Nepal in April 2014 many rushed to help those in need, including Tunna Milanoff who got in touch with our charity collaborator Dayan Cutler in Lamagaun, Nepal. We collaborated with MadAdventures in acquiring and getting supplies to hard to reach areas including Lamagaun.

Dayan continues to support Lamagaun through these difficult times. Dayan tells us that access to electricity and food supplies continues to be a challenge for locals in the area. Dayan has recently donated a batch of fairtrade Ilo by Dakini clothes made by local workers in Nepal to Danakosha Trust and these clothes can be acquired by making a donation to Danakosha Trust at the shop in Jokioinen, Finland. The donation goes towards Danakosha Trust aid relief in the Himalayan area.

Danakosha ja Madventures lievittÀmÀssÀ Nepalin hÀtÀÀ

field_tent

MissÀ tahansa on hiemankin tasaista maata, siihen on pystytetty jonkin etnisen ryhmÀn uskonnollinen pyhÀttö. Nepalissa minun on helppo nÀhdÀ aineeton itseni.

Nukuin hyvin.

house_tent.jpg

JÀlkijÀristykset tuntuivat ohittavalta raitiovaunulta kotinurkilla. Ihmettelin miksi talonvÀki ryntÀili ulos. Lopulta ymmÀrsin minkÀlaista traumaattista stressiÀ luonnonkatastrofi voi synnyttÀÀ. Melkein kaikilla oli pyörrytystÀ. Osalla on vakavia psyykkisiÀ traumoja.
